Tax Help for Small to Mid-Size Businesses

Business ownership is often viewed as "The American Dream". Of course, there is a significant amount of work required to successfully achieve this dream. In addition to dealing with day to day operations and finances of their business, business owners face IRS, and often State and Local tax reporting requirements. Missing, or failure to file these tax requirements  with the IRS can lead to extensive tax issues. There are also the requirements to pay estimated taxes, payroll taxes, and other filings throughout the year. Whether you are facing a large income tax debt due to underpayment of estimated taxes or have unreported, underreported, or unpaid payroll taxes, Sheppard Tax Relief is here to help with your business taxation issues.

Sole Proprietorship

Since a Sole Proprietorship is considered a pass-through entity for purposes of federal income taxes, profits or losses are filed on a Schedule C with the owners personal income tax returns on IRS form 1040. This means that tax problems, including underpayment of estimated taxes, and failure to pay self employment taxes are a personal tax liability. At Sheppard Tax Relief we help sole proprietors in dealing with the IRS, as well as state and local tax authorities to resolve any taxation issues. We help sole proprietors with common issues including sole proprietor income tax preparation, delinquent return preparation, tax payment plans, offers in compromise, tax lien removal, tax levy appeals and removal, tax audit defense, and additional federal, state, and local tax relief services.

Limited Liability Company (LLC)

A Limited Liability Company may be treated as a disregarded entity, which is a pass-through entity for purposes of filing income taxes with the IRS, unless the LLC elects treatment as a corporation or has greater than one member (owner), in which case the LLC may be classified as a partnership. As a pass-through entity, the profits and losses of a LLC are filed on a Schedule C with the owners personal income tax returns on IRS form 1040. This means that tax problems, including underpayment of estimated taxes, and failure to pay self employment taxes are a personal tax liability. At Sheppard Tax Relief we help sole proprietors in dealing with the IRS, as well as state and local tax authorities to resolve any taxation issues. We help LLC members with common issues including LLC income tax preparation, delinquent return preparation, tax payment plans, offers in compromise, tax lien removal, tax levy appeals and removal, tax audit defense, and additional federal, state, and local tax relief services.

Partnership

A partnership is a joint venture between more than one person, known as general partners. A Limited Liability Company with at least two members can be classified as a partnership for federal income tax purposes, unless it files Form 8832 and affirmatively elects to be treated as a Corporation. Partnerships file Form 1065 with the IRS. We work with the partnership as a whole or individual partners with common issues including Partnership income tax preparation, delinquent return preparation, tax payment plans, offers in compromise, tax lien removal, tax levy appeals and removal, tax audit defense, and additional federal, state, and local tax relief services.

Corporation

A corporation is a separate entity distinct from its owners, who are known as shareholders. A corporation is created by state law by establishing a corporate charter and filing Initial Articles of Incorporation, typically with the Secretary of State. Many small corporations seek an S-election through the IRS to avoid double taxation. Corporations file Form 1120 and S-Corporations file Form 1120-S.
